YouGov, January 27–31, 2022, online survey of 1,000 US adults. Respondents read a description of each language and ranked the five for how they prefer to receive love; this is their first choice. The shares are rounded, so they add up to 101%. It is not a Korean survey and is measured differently from the mind.io ranking, so use it for the broad pattern rather than a strict comparison.

It is a US online survey that had everyone rank all five, so each person ended up with a first choice. In a 2025 study of 499 people in long-term cohabiting relationships, fewer than half had a clear primary love language. The mind.io ranking counts only the top-scoring language of people who chose to join, so the ranking above and the shares below cannot be compared directly. The guide covers the survey and how to read the numbers.

This shows people who chose to join from their result page. It is not the share of each type in the population, and the numbers count entries, not people. Entries are anonymous and unverified, so automated ones may be mixed in. A test’s ranking appears only after at least 30 entries. The ranking updates every few minutes.
