The Rooster in 2027: the Fire Goat year, season by season

Tradition names no harmony or clash between the Rooster’s 酉 and the year’s 未. The months differ sharply, though: March brings a clash and autumn the Rooster’s own season. Check your sign by Ipchun and walk through the year.

Rooster birth years and the start of spring

In the Korean saju calendar the year starts at Ipchun, the start of spring (around 4 February), not on January 1 or at the lunar new year. Someone born under the Rooster sign was born between one year’s Ipchun and the day before the next.

So someone born between January 1 and February 3, 1993 counts as the previous year’s Monkey, while someone born between January 1 and February 3, 1994 still counts as Rooster.

What tradition says about this sign and 未

酉 is mid-autumn and dusk, metal worked into something fine. 未 and 酉 share no relation in the traditional tables (申 sits between them), but 2027’s stem 丁 is fire, and fire works metal, so some readers call it a year of being refined by the heat. In old Korean custom, pictures of roosters and tigers were pasted on gates at New Year: a way of welcoming the year, not a charm that changes it.

2027 season by season

The saju year is split into twelve months by the solar terms. For each season of three months, the chips show the traditional relation between that month’s branch and this sign, followed by a few questions for the season. The names are symbols; they do not say what will happen.

SpringFebruary 4, 2027 – May 5, 2027

  • 壬寅 month (Tiger)Resentment (怨嗔)
  • 癸卯 month (Rabbit)Clash (沖)
  • 甲辰 month (Dragon)Six Harmonies (六合)

寅 brings Resentment, 卯 a head-on Clash and 辰 a Six Harmony. Avoid saving all your feedback for March and start with what went well, then put any new spring partnership in writing.

SummerMay 6, 2027 – August 7, 2027

  • 乙巳 month (Snake)Triangle of affinity (三合)
  • 丙午 month (Horse)No relation
  • 丁未 month (Goat)No relation

巳 joins the triangle; 午 and 未 are quiet. Agree in early summer what you will do with someone, and instead of restarting a budget, review the five biggest costs of the half-year.

AutumnAugust 8, 2027 – November 7, 2027

  • 戊申 month (Monkey)Same season (方合)
  • 己酉 month (Rooster)Same branch
  • 庚戌 month (Dog)Same season (方合)Harm (害)

Your own autumn, with Harm in 戌. Show your work in September, realign roles in October, and notice whether perfectionism is eating into your days off.

WinterNovember 8, 2027 – February 3, 2028

  • 辛亥 month (Pig)No relation
  • 壬子 month (Rat)Break (破)
  • 癸丑 month (Ox)Triangle of affinity (三合)

亥 is neutral, 子 brings a Break and 丑 the triangle. Don’t fret over changed December plans; thank one person face to face, and stretch on cold evenings.

The Rooster in 2027, by age

The same sign meets a different year at 15, 40 or 70. These short notes suggest what is worth looking after at each age, from school and first jobs to check-ups and life after work.

Born 1957 · 70 in 2027
Seventy is traditionally celebrated as a rare age; tell family where you would like to go or what to learn next, and keep up leg exercises to stay mobile.
Born 1969 · 58 in 2027
Retirement is coming into view; plan generously for any gap before pension income starts, and use your employer’s training while you still can.
Born 1981 · 46 in 2027
With teenage children and ageing parents, keep insurance, accounts and key contacts in one place, and redesign work so fewer things depend on you alone.
Born 1993 · 34 in 2027
Careers start to diverge in the mid-thirties; updating your CV is a quick way to gauge your market value, and paying savings first on payday helps with rising housing costs.
Born 2005 · 22 in 2027
Paths split around now: talk to one person who works in a field you like, and separate your money into a bills account and a spending account.

Questions about the Rooster in 2027

Born on February 3, 1981: Rooster or Monkey?

Ipchun was on February 4 in 1981, so February 3 counts as the previous year’s Monkey; from February 4 you are a 辛酉 Rooster.

Is the Rooster in samjae in 2027?

No. The 巳酉丑 group meets samjae in 亥, 子 and 丑 years; by the traditional count the Rooster’s next run is 2031 to 2033.

There is a clash in March: should the Rooster be careful?

From the waking of insects in early March, the 卯 month clashes with 酉. Old readings sometimes tied a clash to quarrels or mishaps, with no evidence behind it; today it is read as movement and change. Allow a little more time, and don’t rush to conclusions in disagreements.
