2027, the Fire Goat Year: Readings for Every Animal and Day Master
In 2027 the heavenly stem 丁 (Ding, yin fire) meets the earthly branch 未 (Wei, the goat or sheep). This page lays out what Korean saju tradition says about each animal and each day master, then turns it into questions for the year ahead. Read it as a mirror for reflection, not as a forecast.

Find your animal and day master
Enter your date of birth and we will work out your animal by the Ipchun boundary and your day master (the stem of your birth day), then highlight the two sections below that are yours. If you know your birthday by the Korean lunar calendar, pick Lunar and it is converted to its Gregorian date first. If you saved a saju reading here, its birth date is filled in for you.
The date is worked out inside this browser only. It is never sent anywhere or stored.
Why 2027 is a Ding Wei year, and why it starts at Ipchun
The sexagenary cycle pairs ten heavenly stems with twelve earthly branches and comes full circle every sixty years. In 2027 it reaches 丁未, Ding Wei. Ding is yin fire, usually pictured as a candle or lamp that lights what is close by, and its colour is red, which is why you will see 2027 called the year of the Red or Fire Goat. Wei is the dry earth of late summer, and its animal is the goat, often translated as sheep.
Korean saju does not start the year on January 1, nor on the Lunar New Year. It starts at Ipchun (立春, Lichun in Chinese), the solar term that opens spring. In 2027 Ipchun falls on February 4, and the Ding Wei year runs until the day before Ipchun on February 4, 2028. Everything from January 1 to February 3, 2027 still belongs to 2026, the Bing Wu or Fire Horse year. The Lunar New Year moves between late January and mid-February and arrives a few days after Ipchun in 2027.
The same rule applies to birthdays. Anyone born in January, or in early February before that year’s Ipchun, takes the animal of the previous year. Someone born on January 20, 1991, for example, is a Horse (the 1990 Geng Wu year) rather than a Goat. Many zodiac columns use the Lunar New Year instead, so two sources can disagree for early-year birthdays; saju simply uses Ipchun.
The readings below rest on two things that are calculated, not invented: the traditional relationship between each branch and 未, and what 丁 and 己 (the main stem hidden inside 未) are to each day master in the system of ten gods. The prose turns those into prompts. Two people with the same animal or day master can still have completely different years.
The 12 animals in the 2027 Fire Goat year
Each animal starts with its traditional relationship to 未 (combinations, clashes, punishments, breaks, harms and resentment pairs), followed by notes on people, work and study, money habits, and rest. A combination is not automatically good and a clash is not automatically bad: modern readings treat combinations as binding and cooperation, clashes as movement and change. The character notes are the pictures tradition attaches to each animal, not a description of the people born in its years.
Each year runs from its Ipchun to the day before the next one.
Rat (子)
A year to find your rhythm before you speed up
In tradition, 子 and 未 form both a resentment pair and a harm pair: a link where small hurts pile up and plans quietly trip each other. It does not mean you will fall out with anyone born in a Goat year. Treat it as a symbolic nudge to clear up misunderstandings quickly.
Birth years: 1936, 1948, 1960, 1972, 1984, 1996, 2008, 2020
- People
- Tradition pictures the Rat as quick to notice, so this is read as a year for reading a lot into one sharp sentence. When something stings, check within a day: "This is how it came across. Is that what you meant?" One-to-one conversations will serve you better than group chats.
- Work & study
- Ideas and information keep arriving, and starting too many things at once blurs the finish. Try naming three things to complete each quarter and parking every new idea in a note until then.
- Money habits
- The more you read, the louder the "now or never" pitches sound. Sleep on any large purchase or investment and compare once more before paying; that habit alone does a lot.
- Body & rest
- A busy mind can keep you awake. Switch screens off half an hour before bed and write tomorrow’s list on paper so it stops circling.
One thing to tryOnce a month, pick one conversation that still bothers you and reach out first, starting with "Here is how I felt."

Loosen your grip and the road widens
丑 sits directly opposite 未 among the twelve branches, a clash, and the two also belong to the 丑戌未 group of punishments. Today a clash is read as movement and a punishment as friction that forces adjustment. Rather than something to fear, take it as a year full of chances to review habits that have gone unquestioned.
Birth years: 1937, 1949, 1961, 1973, 1985, 1997, 2009, 2021
- People
- Tradition pictures the Ox as principled and reliable, and this year that can come across as rigidity. When views collide, ask what matters most to the other person before arguing for the outcome. In long friendships, saying thank you out loud goes further than you expect.
- Work & study
- A move, a reorganisation or a new role may unsettle you at first and still leave you with new skills. Writing down what is changing and what you will keep steadies the nerves.
- Money habits
- If you value stability, that is a real strength. When life shifts, fixed costs creep up unnoticed, so review subscriptions, insurance and phone plans once a quarter.
- Body & rest
- If you are used to pushing through, you may notice fatigue late. If your shoulders or back always knot up, put ten minutes of stretching in your calendar.
One thing to tryEach time you hear yourself say "that is how I have always done it", try one different way on purpose.

Sketch the big picture at your own pace
Tradition lists no combination, clash, punishment, break, harm or resentment between 寅 and 未, so the two get along quietly. In five-element terms, the wood of 寅 works the earth of 未, which some read as a year where you take the lead in shaping and tidying things up.
Birth years: 1938, 1950, 1962, 1974, 1986, 1998, 2010, 2022
- People
- Tradition gives the Tiger plenty of drive, and this is read as a year that puts you at the front. When you lead, check the pace of the people behind you; "What is the hardest part for you right now?" can change a team’s mood.
- Work & study
- New projects will tempt you. Start as big as you like, but set a small checkpoint for the first three months so you have something to grab when the novelty fades.
- Money habits
- If a goal makes you spend boldly, write down whether you will still be glad of the choice a year from now. Cutting impulse purchases alone frees up room.
- Body & rest
- High output needs planned recovery. If you train, alternate hard days with genuinely easy ones.
One thing to tryWrite your big picture for 2027 in one sentence, and under it one action you can take this month.

Teamwork comes easily; finish what you started
卯 belongs to the 亥卯未 Three Harmony group, so tradition sees it working well with a 未 year. The same group is also in the last year of the samjae run that began in 2025. Having both at once is a good reminder that no single rule can label a whole year good or bad.
Birth years: 1939, 1951, 1963, 1975, 1987, 1999, 2011, 2023
- People
- Working with others flows well, but saying yes to every favour can bury you. Decide in advance how much you can take on, and friendships last longer.
- Work & study
- Joint projects, study groups and collaborations are where you shine this year. If something has been on hold for two years, put your energy into closing it out.
- Money habits
- Shared spending (group dinners, gifts, joint purchases) may rise. Give it its own line in the monthly budget and you can enjoy it without worry.
- Body & rest
- Social days drain more than you think. Keep one evening a week free of plans to recharge on your own.
One thing to tryPut a reminder in December to message three people you were grateful for this year.

A year for laying solid foundations
There is no listed combination, clash, punishment, break, harm or resentment between 辰 and 未 either. Both are earth, which is often read as a year that rewards building on what you have and organising it.
Birth years: 1940, 1952, 1964, 1976, 1988, 2000, 2012, 2024
- People
- Tradition pictures the Dragon with a strong sense of duty, which can leave you carrying other people’s loads. When you help, say where your help stops: "This time I can do this much."
- Work & study
- Raising the quality of existing work and building systems will pay off more than launching new things. Turn recurring tasks into documents or checklists your future self will thank you for.
- Money habits
- Tradition reads this as a year for saving. A fixed amount that moves automatically each month is easier to keep up than a big target.
- Body & rest
- You may cling to your to-do list even on days off. Give yourself permission to spend one rest day walking or napping with no plan.
One thing to tryChoose one habit for the whole year and mark each day you keep it on a calendar.

Same season, so share your energy evenly
巳, 午 and 未 make up the summer seasonal group, so tradition treats 巳 and 未 as close companions. Fire carries on from one to the other, which is read as passion and focus that last. 2025 was the Snake’s own year, and 2027 is a good time to continue what you began then.
Birth years: 1941, 1953, 1965, 1977, 1989, 2001, 2013, 2025
- People
- Tradition pictures the Snake as good at deep conversations yet slow to share its own worries, which can be misread. This year, share one concern with someone you trust instead of carrying it alone.
- Work & study
- Your focus returns. The harder you work, though, the more perfect you want things, and deadlines slip; try sharing work when it is eighty percent done.
- Money habits
- Deep interests can pull money into gear and courses. Before buying something new, check whether you have fully used what you already own.
- Body & rest
- With summer energy doubled, some readings warn about wilting in the heat. In practice: drink water often in summer and lighten your schedule on days your body feels heavy.
One thing to tryPick one thing you started last year and paused, then decide whether to pick it back up or let it go cleanly.

Find a good partner and join forces
午 and 未 are a classic Six Harmony pair, and they also share the 巳午未 summer group. Tradition reads this as two branches that pull together, so the move from 2026, the Horse’s own year, into 2027 is often described as a smooth hand-off.
Birth years: 1942, 1954, 1966, 1978, 1990, 2002, 2014, 2026
- People
- Tradition reads this as a year for meeting collaborators and kindred spirits. A harmony is also a bond, so watch that a relationship does not swallow your schedule; good relationships last when you keep some time for yourself.
- Work & study
- You may move faster with a partner than alone. If you start something together, write down roles and deadlines from day one.
- Money habits
- Joint accounts, shared ownership or a business partnership may come up. The closer the relationship, the more worthwhile it is to put figures and terms in writing.
- Body & rest
- After a busy year, tiredness may surface late. Start 2027 with a health check and a steady bedtime.
One thing to tryMake one concrete proposal to someone you would like to work or spend time with this year.

Your own year: look back and refine
2027 is the year of 未, so Goats meet their own sign. The same branch is not counted as a combination or clash with itself, but the Goat belongs to the 亥卯未 group and is in the final year of the samjae run that began in 2025. Old readings could take both heavily, as a year calling for extra caution, though nothing shows they predict anything; here they are read simply as a year to look after body and mind and to tidy up.
Birth years: 1943, 1955, 1967, 1979, 1991, 2003, 2015
- People
- Tradition pictures the Goat as kind enough to put everyone else’s requests ahead of its own wishes. Practise saying "This is what I want" plainly, and voice small hurts before they grow.
- Work & study
- A good year to turn the last few years of experience into something visible: a portfolio, a record of achievements, finished qualifications. One completed piece becomes next year’s stepping stone.
- Money habits
- If you spend out of affection, set a budget for gifts and family occasions in advance. The warmth stays the same and your wallet breathes easier.
- Body & rest
- Some customs ask for extra care in your own year, but mood depends far more on life and circumstances than on a sign. If low days keep coming, do not tough it out alone; talk to someone close or a professional.
One thing to tryOn the last day of each month, note one thing you did well and one thing you will let go. Twelve pages make your own record of 2027.

Turn quick wit into real skill
Tradition lists no combination, clash, punishment, break, harm or resentment between 申 and 未. In five-element terms the earth of 未 feeds the metal of 申, read as a year when what you learn turns into ability.
Birth years: 1944, 1956, 1968, 1980, 1992, 2004, 2016
- People
- Tradition pictures the Monkey lifting the room with humour, but a joke can land badly. Set aside time to listen to the people closest to you with no banter at all.
- Work & study
- Tradition reads this as a year for putting new knowledge to use quickly. When you learn a tool or skill, make a small piece of work with it and share it; visible skill attracts the next chance.
- Money habits
- Several offers may look like opportunities. Pause on anything with complicated terms or pressure to decide fast, and keep asking until you understand every part.
- Body & rest
- Juggling many things makes meals irregular. Protect one sit-down meal a day.
One thing to tryChoose one thing to learn and aim for a small result you could show someone in three months.

Care for detail comes back as trust
酉 and 未 also have no listed combination, clash, punishment, break, harm or resentment. As with 申, earth feeds metal here, which is read as a year when patient polishing gets noticed.
Birth years: 1945, 1957, 1969, 1981, 1993, 2005, 2017
- People
- Tradition pictures the Rooster as precise and honest, assets that can still make feedback sound like criticism. Lead with one thing that works and pick just one thing to fix.
- Work & study
- Tradition reads this as a year when an eye for detail stands out. Writing down the standards and steps of your work makes you the person the team relies on.
- Money habits
- A good year to keep a spending log. Just make sure saving does not crowd out the health and learning costs that matter.
- Body & rest
- The pressure to get everything right can settle in your body. After work, a short walk helps it let go.
One thing to tryDefine what "good enough" means for one task this year, and practise stopping once you reach it.

Balance principles with flexibility
戌 shares the 丑戌未 punishment group with 未 and also forms a break pair with it. Today a punishment is read as friction that forces adjustment and a break as something that comes apart and is put back together. Take it as a hint to keep a plan B handy, nothing more.
Birth years: 1946, 1958, 1970, 1982, 1994, 2006, 2018
- People
- Tradition pictures the Dog as loyal and dependable, so you may feel let down hard when others fall short. Saying clearly what you hope for in advance prevents much of the disappointment.
- Work & study
- Plans may change and promises may slip. Write a plan B for anything important and leave slack in your schedule.
- Money habits
- Contracts, refunds and terms and conditions may need extra care. Waiting a day and rereading before you sign is cheap insurance.
- Body & rest
- If you carry a lot of responsibility, you may swallow stress. If headaches, an upset stomach or broken sleep keep returning, lighten your schedule and see a doctor if needed.
One thing to tryWhen a plan changes this week, write one line answering: "So what new opening does this create?"

Close one chapter and open the next door
亥 belongs to the 亥卯未 Three Harmony group, so tradition sees it in step with 未. The group is also in the last year of its samjae run, often called the "leaving" year, which is read as a time to wrap up what the past few years started.
Birth years: 1947, 1959, 1971, 1983, 1995, 2007, 2019
- People
- Tradition pictures the Pig as generous and warm, and this is read as a year when people come to you easily. Trying to please everyone is tiring, so give your time first to the relationships you value most.
- Work & study
- Tradition reads this as a year when teamwork multiplies your efforts. List the remaining steps of current projects and tick them off one by one for a real sense of progress.
- Money habits
- Good moods can mean big spending. Rather than banning treats, set a monthly allowance and enjoy it freely.
- Body & rest
- Good food and rest are easy pleasures, which can scramble your routine. Keep your wake-up time steady, even at weekends.
One thing to tryPick one matter that has nagged you since 2025, choose a date this year to finish it, and put it in your calendar.
More on the Pig in 2027Pig compatibilitySamjae in 2027: the Pig, Rabbit and Goat in their leaving year
Samjae (三災, "three calamities") is a Korean folk belief that each animal goes through a three-year stretch of bad luck. The animals are grouped by their Three Harmony trine and each group has fixed years: Monkey, Rat and Dragon in 寅卯辰 years; Snake, Rooster and Ox in 亥子丑 years; Tiger, Horse and Dog in 申酉戌 years; Pig, Rabbit and Goat in 巳午未 years.
2027 is a 未 year, so the Pig, Rabbit and Goat are in samjae. Their run entered in 2025, the Yi Si (乙巳) year, stayed through 2026 and leaves in 2027. The leaving year is often read as the year it winds down and a time to wrap things up, though sources differ on which of the three years weighs most.
Samjae has never been shown to hold up statistically or scientifically. Millions of people share each birth year and they do not live the same lives. If the idea is on your mind, use it as a cue for habits that help anyone: a health check, a second read of contracts, a lighter schedule.
Some people use samjae to sell fear: talismans, rituals or expensive ceremonies "to block the bad luck". Saying no costs you nothing. If someone pushes you to decide quickly or to pay a lot, talk it over with family or someone you trust first.
The 10 day masters in 2027
Your day master is the heavenly stem of the day you were born, the symbol of "you" in a saju chart. For each one we calculate which of the ten gods the year stem 丁 and 己, the main stem hidden in 未, represent. The ten gods name relationships; they are not scores. If you do not know your day master, use the finder above or the saju test.
Jia, yang wood (甲)
Express yourself, then gather the results
- What the year invites
- For Jia wood, 丁 is the Hurting Officer and 己 is Direct Wealth. The first stands for expression and talent that break the mould, the second for steady, earned results. A year to put ideas into words and work, and to see that effort pay off in concrete ways.
- What to watch
- The Hurting Officer can also show up as sharp words against the established order. In meetings or reviews, even a fair point can start a fight if it lands badly, so pair every criticism with a suggestion.
One small stepSet one day a month to show people something you have made.
Day pillars of this stem
Yi, yin wood (乙)
Enjoy what you do and widen your reach
- What the year invites
- For Yi wood, 丁 is the Eating God and 己 is Indirect Wealth: relaxed, enjoyable use of your talents, and money that comes from moving around and spotting openings. Opportunities may grow naturally out of something you love doing.
- What to watch
- Indirect Wealth is also the energy of big moves and big spending. If a side income tempts you, count the start-up costs and the hours first.
One small stepFor three months, test whether one hobby can become a small income or a public record of your work.
Day pillars of this stem
Bing, yang fire (丙)
Shine among peers and rivals
- What the year invites
- For Bing fire, 丁 is Rob Wealth and 己 is the Hurting Officer: competition and camaraderie with people like you, plus outspoken self-expression. A year to stand out in a crowd and use your voice.
- What to watch
- Rob Wealth is about sharing, so in joint ventures you may feel your share shrinking. Agree on roles and rewards at the start.
One small stepWrite down one thing you could learn from someone you see as a rival.
Day pillars of this stem
Ding, yin fire (丁)
Stay true to yourself and keep making things
- What the year invites
- For Ding fire, 丁 is the same stem, the Companion, and 己 is the Eating God: independence and peers, plus steady output and ease. A year to keep producing things your own way.
- What to watch
- A doubled Companion can harden into stubbornness that tunes out advice. Before any big decision, make a rule of asking at least one person.
One small stepCreate a small weekly ritual of making or writing something, same day, same time.
Day pillars of this stem
Wu, yang earth (戊)
Learn, lean on support and grow
- What the year invites
- For Wu earth, 丁 is Direct Resource and 己 is Rob Wealth: learning, help and solid backing, alongside competition and cooperation with peers. Study, certifications and good mentors get a tailwind.
- What to watch
- Relying on help can weaken your own decision-making. Listen widely, decide by your own criteria, and keep records when money is shared.
One small stepChoose one book or course in a field you want to learn and finish it.
Day pillars of this stem
Ji, yin earth (己)
Think deeply and secure your ground
- What the year invites
- For Ji earth, 丁 is Indirect Resource and 己 is the Companion: unusual intuition and deep study, plus independence. Solo research and self-directed projects can go far.
- What to watch
- Indirect Resource can also mean overthinking and slow starts. When deliberation drags, try the smallest version first and refine as you go.
One small stepTake one idea you have only been thinking about and act on its tiniest version this month.
Day pillars of this stem
Geng, yang metal (庚)
More responsibility, more recognition
- What the year invites
- For Geng metal, 丁 is the Direct Officer and 己 is Direct Resource: duty, titles and structure, together with learning and trust. Roles may grow and recognition may become official.
- What to watch
- The Direct Officer also carries the weight of rules and expectations, and worrying about evaluation is tiring. Pick the two or three responsibilities that matter most this year.
One small stepIf you take on a new role, treat the first month as a learning period and ask questions right away.
Day pillars of this stem
Xin, yin metal (辛)
Pressure that makes you stronger
- What the year invites
- For Xin metal, 丁 is the Seven Killings and 己 is Indirect Resource: tough challenges and decisive action, plus a distinctive point of view. A year to prove yourself through demanding tasks.
- What to watch
- Seven Killings can feel like pressure and tension. When deadlines pile up, protect sleep and meals first, and do not try to solve everything alone.
One small stepOn stressful days, write your worries down and sort them into "within my control" and "outside it".
Day pillars of this stem
Ren, yang water (壬)
Build a steady life and earn trust
- What the year invites
- For Ren water, 丁 is Direct Wealth and 己 is the Direct Officer: diligently built resources and stability, plus responsibility and trust. 丁 and 壬 also form a stem combination (丁壬合), often read as good partnerships. A year to strengthen your footing and keep your word.
- What to watch
- Guarding stability may make you too wary of new chances. Test the things worth changing on a small scale first.
One small stepChoose one day a month to put fixed costs and savings on a single page.
Day pillars of this stem
Gui, yin water (癸)
Move and choose your chances, without overdoing it
- What the year invites
- For Gui water, 丁 is Indirect Wealth and 己 is the Seven Killings: lively movement and opportunity, plus challenge and decisiveness. New people and offers come and go, and you will have plenty to decide.
- What to watch
- 丁 and 癸 also clash as stems (丁癸沖), and with the Seven Killings on top, some stretches may feel hectic. When commitments overlap, decide first what you will turn down.
One small stepLimit yourself to starting one new thing per week.

Questions about the 2027 reading
Which animal is 2027?
2027 is the Ding Wei year, the year of the Goat (or Sheep). Its stem 丁 is fire, traditionally red, hence "Fire Goat" or "Red Goat". In saju the year begins at Ipchun on February 4, so January 1 to February 3, 2027 still counts as the Horse year.
I was born in January or early February. Is my animal different?
Saju counts anyone born before that year’s Ipchun as the previous year’s animal; someone born on January 20, 1991 is a Horse, not a Goat. Sources that use the Lunar New Year may give another answer. The finder on this page uses Ipchun.
What is the difference between the animal and the day master readings?
The animal reading looks at your birth year’s branch and its relationship with 未. The day master reading looks at the stem of your birth day and what 丁 and 己 are to it among the ten gods. People with the same animal split into ten day masters, so reading both gives a fuller picture.
Should I make big decisions based on this?
No. This page offers traditional symbolism as prompts for reflection and fun. Career moves, investments, health or marriage deserve real information and professional advice.
