The Dragon in 2027: the Fire Goat year, season by season

The Dragon’s 辰 and the year’s 未 share no named relation. Month by month, though, spring is the Dragon’s own season, summer carries no relation at all, and autumn alternates harmonies with a clash. Here is the year in that rhythm.

Dragon birth years and the start of spring

In the Korean saju calendar the year starts at Ipchun, the start of spring (around 4 February), not on January 1 or at the lunar new year. Someone born under the Dragon sign was born between one year’s Ipchun and the day before the next.

So someone born between January 1 and February 3, 1988 counts as the previous year’s Rabbit, while someone born between January 1 and February 3, 1989 still counts as Dragon.

What tradition says about this sign and 未

辰 is late spring and the morning hours, a damp earth known as the storehouse of water, while 未 is the storehouse of wood. Tradition groups 辰, 戌, 丑 and 未 as the four storehouses, and when two of them meet the image is one of taking stock and reorganising.

2027 season by season

The saju year is split into twelve months by the solar terms. For each season of three months, the chips show the traditional relation between that month’s branch and this sign, followed by a few questions for the season. The names are symbols; they do not say what will happen.

SpringFebruary 4, 2027 – May 5, 2027

  • 壬寅 month (Tiger)Same season (方合)
  • 癸卯 month (Rabbit)Same season (方合)Harm (害)
  • 甲辰 month (Dragon)Same branch

Your own season, with Harm in the 卯 month: write down who does what to avoid small grievances, and aim for one finished result by the end of April.

SummerMay 6, 2027 – August 7, 2027

  • 乙巳 month (Snake)No relation
  • 丙午 month (Horse)No relation
  • 丁未 month (Goat)No relation

巳, 午 and 未 have no relation with 辰, making this the quietest stretch of the year. Use it to replan or study, take your holiday, and book the check-up or dentist visit you keep postponing.

AutumnAugust 8, 2027 – November 7, 2027

  • 戊申 month (Monkey)Triangle of affinity (三合)
  • 己酉 month (Rooster)Six Harmonies (六合)
  • 庚戌 month (Dog)Clash (沖)

申 and 酉 bring a triangle and a Six Harmony, then 戌 a head-on Clash. If invitations pile up in September, check whether October can hold them, and give big purchases a month.

WinterNovember 8, 2027 – February 3, 2028

  • 辛亥 month (Pig)Resentment (怨嗔)
  • 壬子 month (Rat)Triangle of affinity (三合)
  • 癸丑 month (Ox)Break (破)

亥 brings Resentment, 子 the triangle again and 丑 a Break. Talk through any hurt in private rather than at a party, and schedule rest after a year of helping others.

If you still drive, agree with family on when to skip night or long-distance trips, and keep a daily sit-to-stand routine for leg strength.
Born 1964 · 63 in 2027
When to draw a pension is a real decision at this age; get advice on starting early or late, and give post-work weeks one fixed anchor.

Keep blood pressure, blood sugar and cholesterol on one page and compare year to year; writing down your know-how helps colleagues and your future self.

With roles stacked at work and at home, decide what you want to keep doing a year from now and what to let go, and silence work alerts one day a week.
Born 2000 · 27 in 2027
Comparison is easy when friends are at different stages; count what you can do now that you could not a year ago, and set up one automatic saving.

Questions about the Dragon in 2027

Born in January 2000: am I a Dragon?

Ipchun was on February 4 in 2000. Births from January 1 to February 3 count as the previous year’s Rabbit; from February 4 you are a 庚辰 Dragon.

Is the Dragon in samjae in 2027?

No. The 申子辰 group meets samjae in 寅, 卯 and 辰 years; by the traditional count the Dragon’s next run is 2034 to 2036.

Is a child born in 2024 a Dragon too?

Yes. Ipchun fell on February 4 in 2024 and on February 3 in 2025, so children born from February 4, 2024 to February 2, 2025 are 甲辰 Dragons, the last row of the table above. Enjoy it as a story, and never judge a child by a sign.
