The Rat in 2027: the Fire Goat year, season by season

In Korean saju tradition, 2027 gives the Rat two quiet labels at once: Resentment (怨嗔) and Harm (害) with the Goat branch 未. Neither means disaster; both describe small misunderstandings that pile up when left alone. Check your sign in the Ipchun table, then take the year one season at a time.

Rat birth years and the start of spring

In the Korean saju calendar the year starts at Ipchun, the start of spring (around 4 February), not on January 1 or at the lunar new year. Someone born under the Rat sign was born between one year’s Ipchun and the day before the next.

So someone born between January 1 and February 4, 1984 counts as the previous year’s Pig, while someone born between January 1 and February 3, 1985 still counts as Rat.

What tradition says about this sign and 未

子 stands for midnight, deep winter and water; 未 is the dry earth of late summer. In five-element terms earth dams water, and classical texts file the pair under two mild labels rather than a head-on clash: a habit of crossing wires. Modern readers take it as a reminder to check what you meant against what was heard, and nothing more.

2027 season by season

The saju year is split into twelve months by the solar terms. For each season of three months, the chips show the traditional relation between that month’s branch and this sign, followed by a few questions for the season. The names are symbols; they do not say what will happen.

SpringFebruary 4, 2027 – May 5, 2027

  • 壬寅 month (Tiger)No relation
  • 癸卯 month (Rabbit)Punishment (刑)
  • 甲辰 month (Dragon)Triangle of affinity (三合)

The 卯 month forms a Punishment (刑) with 子, traditionally a cue to mind manners and procedure, while the 辰 month belongs to the Rat’s triangle of affinity. Pick three things you will really finish this spring and park the rest.

SummerMay 6, 2027 – August 7, 2027

  • 乙巳 month (Snake)No relation
  • 丙午 month (Horse)Clash (沖)
  • 丁未 month (Goat)Harm (害)Resentment (怨嗔)

Summer carries the most labels: a Clash in the 午 month, then Resentment and Harm in the 未 month. Treat them as prompts, not warnings: confirm plans in writing and leave hard conversations for a cooler, rested day.

AutumnAugust 8, 2027 – November 7, 2027

  • 戊申 month (Monkey)Triangle of affinity (三合)
  • 己酉 month (Rooster)Break (破)
  • 庚戌 month (Dog)No relation

申 joins the Rat’s triangle and 酉 forms a Break (破), the image of a plan that slips and is put back together. Sort this year’s projects into keep and drop, and go through your standing payments once.

WinterNovember 8, 2027 – February 3, 2028

  • 辛亥 month (Pig)Same season (方合)
  • 壬子 month (Rat)Same branch
  • 癸丑 month (Ox)Six Harmonies (六合)Same season (方合)

亥, 子 and 丑 are the Rat’s own winter, and 丑 adds a Six Harmony: tradition’s most comfortable stretch for this sign. Get back in touch with people you missed this year, and set December’s budget in November.

The Rat in 2027, by age

The same sign meets a different year at 15, 40 or 70. These short notes suggest what is worth looking after at each age, from school and first jobs to check-ups and life after work.

Born 1960 · 67 in 2027
Routines carry the day now: keep a weekly walking group or exercise class, and give health costs and family occasions their own line in the budget.
Born 1972 · 55 in 2027
Work and family duties often peak together in the mid-fifties; list what someone else could take over, and ask which screenings are due this year.
Born 1984 · 43 in 2027
Your own time tends to vanish first in the early forties: book one free half-day a month before anything else can claim it.
Born 1996 · 31 in 2027
If a first career chapter is closing, write down three things this job taught you before choosing the next, and check whether spending quietly rose with your pay.
Born 2008 · 19 in 2027
Many first decisions are now yours alone: read leases, phone contracts and a first credit card agreement slowly, ideally with someone you trust.

Questions about the Rat in 2027

I was born in January 1984. Am I a Rat?

Ipchun fell on February 5 in 1984, so anyone born from January 1 to February 4 that year counts as the previous year’s Pig in saju. From February 5 you are a 甲子 Rat; on Ipchun day itself, the exact time decides.

Is the Rat in samjae in 2027?

No. The 申子辰 group meets samjae in 寅, 卯 and 辰 years, so by the traditional count the Rat’s next samjae years are 2034 to 2036.

Does Resentment with 未 make 2027 a bad year for the Rat?

No. The labels name a traditional pattern between two branches, not a score for the year. Millions of people share the sign and live very different years; use it as a reason to clear up misunderstandings quickly.
