The Rabbit in 2027: the Fire Goat year, season by season

Two traditional labels meet in the Rabbit’s 2027. 卯 shares the 亥卯未 triangle with the year’s 未, a sign of easy cooperation, and the same group leaves samjae this year. Both are symbols; here is how they read season by season and by age.

Rabbit birth years and the start of spring

In the Korean saju calendar the year starts at Ipchun, the start of spring (around 4 February), not on January 1 or at the lunar new year. Someone born under the Rabbit sign was born between one year’s Ipchun and the day before the next.

So someone born between January 1 and February 3, 1987 counts as the previous year’s Tiger, while someone born between January 1 and February 3, 1988 still counts as Rabbit.

What tradition says about this sign and 未

The 亥卯未 triangle is the wood group: wood sprouts in 亥, flourishes in 卯 and is gathered in 未, which is why 未 is called the storehouse of wood. For the Rabbit, a 未 year is often read as a time to bring in and store what has grown.

2027 season by season

The saju year is split into twelve months by the solar terms. For each season of three months, the chips show the traditional relation between that month’s branch and this sign, followed by a few questions for the season. The names are symbols; they do not say what will happen.

SpringFebruary 4, 2027 – May 5, 2027

  • 壬寅 month (Tiger)Same season (方合)
  • 癸卯 month (Rabbit)Same branch
  • 甲辰 month (Dragon)Same season (方合)Harm (害)

Spring is the Rabbit’s own season, but 辰 adds Harm, so small hurts between close people are easy to miss. Finish one thing you put off during the past two years, and practise answering requests with “let me think about it.”

SummerMay 6, 2027 – August 7, 2027

  • 乙巳 month (Snake)No relation
  • 丙午 month (Horse)Break (破)
  • 丁未 month (Goat)Triangle of affinity (三合)

午 brings a Break and 未 a return to the triangle: a plan that slips early and finds its place late. Note what to check next time rather than who was at fault, and agree on holiday costs before you leave.

AutumnAugust 8, 2027 – November 7, 2027

  • 戊申 month (Monkey)Resentment (怨嗔)
  • 己酉 month (Rooster)Clash (沖)
  • 庚戌 month (Dog)Six Harmonies (六合)

申 brings Resentment, 酉 a direct Clash and 戌 a Six Harmony. If emotions run high in September, move your body before you decide anything, and cap spending on events and gifts.

WinterNovember 8, 2027 – February 3, 2028

  • 辛亥 month (Pig)Triangle of affinity (三合)
  • 壬子 month (Rat)Punishment (刑)
  • 癸丑 month (Ox)No relation

亥 joins the triangle, 子 forms a Punishment and 丑 is neutral. As samjae closes, thank the people who helped you and clear out one pile of papers or things.

The Rabbit in 2027, by age

The same sign meets a different year at 15, 40 or 70. These short notes suggest what is worth looking after at each age, from school and first jobs to check-ups and life after work.

Born 1963 · 64 in 2027
Early in retirement for many: look back at what last year actually cost, rebuild the budget from that, and keep one daily walk at a fixed time.
Born 1975 · 52 in 2027
With teenagers or young adults at home, it is a good year to put your retirement plan into numbers for the first time and to book the screenings offered past fifty.
Born 1987 · 40 in 2027
Forty is a natural moment for a fuller health check; put the date in the diary first, then choose one thing you want to get better at over the next decade.
Born 1999 · 28 in 2027
A few years into work, separate what you can still learn where you are from what you need to learn elsewhere, and mark your lease renewal date.
Born 2011 · 16 in 2027
Starting upper secondary school for many: when you choose subjects, include one you are simply curious about, and tell your family when you need time alone.

Samjae in 2027

The Rabbit is in its leaving year, the last of its samjae run (2025–2027).

For the Rabbit, samjae began in 2025 and ends with this leaving year. Looking back, parts of the past two years were hard and parts were fine; samjae caused neither. It is an old name for the ups and downs that everyone meets.

Some people sell talismans, rituals or costly prayers to “close” samjae. Saying no changes nothing for the worse. If you want a ritual, finish a postponed check-up or sort one drawer of papers.

Questions about the Rabbit in 2027

Is the Rabbit’s last samjae year something to fear?

No. The leaving year is often read as the time samjae winds down. It is a folk belief, not a measured effect, so use it as a year to tidy up loose ends.

Born on February 4, 1987: Rabbit or Tiger?

Ipchun fell on February 4 in 1987, so on that day the time of birth decides. From February 5 you are a 丁卯 Rabbit; before February 4, the previous year’s Tiger.

The Rabbit and the Goat are a good match: does that make 2027 good?

卯 and 未 share a triangle, so tradition sees them as supporting each other. That is a symbol, not a promise, and samjae ends in the same year: read 2027 as a year to finish shared work well.
